Evilgoat:
AFAIK There are no SPECs cams on the M27 or are there plans to be.

There ARE time in transit cams for Romanse which have been in operation for about 2 months, hence the 'Time to J1 M27 - 16 Mins' signs up of late.

Both Romanse and Trafficmaster use APNR for traffic flow measurement eg it'll read x plates at junction 7, tehn look for those plates again atthe ext gantry to get average traffic speed.

If there were Really SPECS cam going up on the M27 and going live we'd have heard about it long before.

As I said, not the normal SPECS as known, Romanse cams data feed is considered to be accurate enough....As is the HA green pole system as both use ANPR at fixed locations...

Yes, they're ramp metering, not speed enforcement.  It's a pilot test to study traffic flow patterns.

Sounds like a quiet, behind scenes step towards road charges.

Actually having looked at the sigsn 'xx mins to Jxx' I thought no way can that be right but it is dead on, its actually pretty handy.

Although last week at J9 it should have gone from '45 Mins to J4' to 'Abandon All hope Ye who pass here'
