Just realised something sardistically humourous about this.

There going to double the cost of waste collections, at the same time they are halving the collection dates. :?

So in one go they have managed to charge 4 times as much for each collection!

This has to be one of the greatest cons going!

We used to have a version of that when I was little, they called them milk bottles. This guy called milkman used to deliever full ones and take empties back to be refilled.

Same for pop bottles.  Funny how recycling is the latest thing when it's actually the oldest.

Range Rover Blues:
Funny what some of you have said about recycling.  In Rotherham they only seem to 'recycle' stuff they can sell.

So tins and bottles get collected, green waste and cardboard go to the ******* farmer near us to get pulped into 'fertiliser' but plastic? no-one wants it second hand so it still goes to landfill.

Yet Linpak one of the market leaders in plastic recylcing are just up the road from you in Allerton Bywater (Just north of Castleford). They've been collecting plastic for recycling in Leeds for many years now. Though I've moved into the Selby area just next door and they don't collect plastic here so I take it to the supermarkets in the Leeds area where they have skips for it despite the council collecting it anyway whereas in Selby they have neither - go figure.

On top of the implanting of chips in wheelie bins - which is widespread - most new bin wagons are coming equipped with weighing equipment and chip readers built in to the wheelie bin lifts.

My local council "recycling" centre is totally useless. They put big signs up stating " we have recycled 15% of your waste last month".
Is that all ?
Don't even have a skip for plastic bottles !
In comparison, when i lived in East Lancs, they had skips for everything, & everyone complied and took an interest. A much better system.
I can see an increase in fly tipping, especially at the gates of recycling centres.
