well i gave it ago - and suprised myself. New front out rigger now fitted! Its not that bad once you get use to your welder!

set the power half way up the scale Point the welder at a bit of scrap then close your eyes and pull the trigger.
as it is welding play with the wire feed until it sounds like bacon under the grill thats when the power/wire balance is just right. if it blows through turn the power down a bit and redo the feed setting with your eyes shut using the sound to get it right if you think it will handle more heat then wack it up a bit etc.
This was the first advice given to me on starting my new job as a welder 6 years ago and it works.
Make sure all the surfaces are clean metal and don't weld galv as it will make you sick :wink:

There's a lot more technical ways to explain it but the description above is pretty good :)
I did a small amount of welding at home then went on a welding course at work (using big fancy MiG welders) got my BS certificate now :D , doesn't mean i'm that much better at it though lol.
Just keep practising!

got to try one of these fancy lectric welders one day- im still on my oxy acetaline set up and im too scared to move from them :)
