CV's on a 1990 200tdi disco
extreme90:
strongly consider arb lockers over the detroit locker in the rear
they are awkward things to have in the rear axle
they never are doing what you want when you want, if you get me
and dont forget there perminantly locked, and unlock when cornering
not the other way around like some people think

Range Rover Blues:
That's very true, I had a Detroit for my sister but I never fitted it once I'd read the warnings in the instructions, like in ice they can actually lead to a loss of control
There have been occasions when any power through the wheels lead to me sliding off the track and the lockers when engaged made it worse. Luckily I had the option to switch them off.
extreme90:
exactly
there are times when std diffs aid you more than locking diffs will do
dan
discorich:
it was the option to not have to think about locking the diff which was appealing to me altho i have always liked the idea of selectable lockers. any feed back on true tracks as a front diff?
Range Rover Blues:
Those that use them like them, they work more ilke an open diff but then don't lock up fully, they can give up to 5:1 ratio so a bit of left foot braking gets the best of them.
It was a Truetrac I really wanted for RRR in the back (you can always move it up front) but her new car has ABS/ETC so I'm leaving it alone. That said ETC would really make the best of a Truetrac in the rear.
