I know the stretch of road they mean too.

Starts at Segensworth roundabout. Used to be national speed limit.

Now a 40
then a 60
then a 40 again

Then as you go into Fareham
40
30
40
30
40
30

Every bloody 200 yards!

£20Mil is a lot of fines, sureley SOMEONE should have twigged something was wrong!

I know what you mean - drive that way every morning and evening.

The 40/30/40 lark is very, very confusing. The 30s are there to slow people down before they turn off the main road into the side road - which is already a 30!!!

It should be 40 throughout with 30mph "gates" as they turn off the A27.

 :(bloodshot):

Errr, From Segensworth R/B 50 for 200m, then 40 until Highlands road junction in Fareham proper, the did away with the 60 bit in the middle a while back, to increase income????

SteveGoodz:
It was reported in the local press recently that North Somerset Council are pulling out of the Avon & Somerset Safety Camera Partnership because there is no evidence that they contribute to road safety at all.

I'm a member of our local IAM group and we had a talk from one of the partnership guys recently. All the way through his talk he referred to "safety" cameras and got right miffed when we all called them "speed" cameras. When asked if they could detect drunk drivers, dangerous drivers, those without a license, road tax or insurance, those with bald or under-inflated tyres, etc he had to say no ~ all they can do is catch inattentive speeders. Point made  :D
