I'd buy bio diesel if I could... despite having the largest producer in the UK just down the road, there doesn't appear to be any retail outlets in the whole of Norfolk  :(

Agreed with the comment regarding the franchised garages. The garage in our village is BP, but under a franchise. It's not going to be BP who'd feel the squeeze from refusing to buy BP fuel, it'll be the garage owner who has already paid for the several thousand gallons sat in the tanks underneath the forecourt, at the price BP were charging at the time of order.

And for me it's a matter of convenience. I either use the garage in the village, or I drive another 12 miles into town to fill up.

I know someone who used to run a village petrol station.... he bought his personal use fuel from the nearest supermarket. It was cheaper than fuel he bought wholesale for his garage

Also used to know someone who ran 3 Esso outlets. One was an actual Esso forecourt. The other 2 were franchises. He always used to say he'd be better off as a shopkeeper and ditch the forecourts.

apparently the owners only make (on roughly) 4p per liter, the rest is to the oil companies, tax ect...

im shure there will be bio diesel places popping up all over the place soon, especially as its reached £1 a liter now, good thing about bio diesel is you can also make it yourself (need to get it exact on common rail diesels because of the psi) workes out at about 9p per liter if you do, plus goverment at the moment lets you make quite a bit of it tax free a year.

another thing there starting to refine (instead of LPG which seams the only way) is a bio thing for petrols, there is just a few complications with how much plants used ect...
