More door lock woes ...........

It's the YD79L for the passenger doors, YD78K for the driver's door, IIRC.  Not sure about the boot one, I've never tried it, but I'd guess it's the same as the passenger doors.

But we're talking about 2 different issues right?

Yes mate, we are talking about 2 seperate issues, just unfortunate that they have occurred within days of each other.  :?

muck_truck:
The back door did this on our 300Tdi.

it felt like there was nothing there when you tried to pull the handle to open the door.

If you take the LR badge off and push the handle back to where it should rest, lock and unlock the doors and it should then open.

I spent a while taking the lock out to find a broken spring but nothing was broken, just needed a bit of lubrication thats all.

Sharpshooter:
The rear door handle suffers badly from seizing up. This is because when it rains, your disco will suck all the crud off the road, and throw it up the back of your motor. My mate has the same problem, and a good squirt of spray grease sorts it out for a few months.

The solenoids from Maplins are only just suitable. I know because i fitted a full set, and i still have the smae problem with the door locks., The open and close when they want to. I have removed all thelocks, cleaned and lubbed them, and its a little better. Dont use any heavy lubricant on these. Just a bit of three in one.

Strong Stuff:
:D

Gentlemen, you were spot on with the diagnosis of my back door problem (so to speak?!)

Popped the LR badge, pushed the handle back down and it opened perfectly.

Just the door lock tomorrow now.

Many thanks
