serious wheel bearing help needed

<< < (2/3) > >>

muck_truck:
brake drum, shouldn’t your disco have discs brakes ?

You say the bearings are only 3 months old ?  They may just need setting up again, whoever fit them may have left them too slack or didn’t fit a lock washer to lock the nuts.  All you will need is a socket to take the drive member off (17mm i think) and a 52mm box spanner to adjust the bearing nuts to remove the slack.  Haynes manual gives a good explanation on setting up the bearings.

Its a easy job.  Don’t need to remove anything else.

when i say the drum i mean the the disc the pads clamp onto to break. that whole metal ironmongery.

I am near banbury / daventry area.

the bearings arent wobbling, well they are now but werent when it failed themot. they are grinding as the wheel spins. the oil looked a tad rusty too. grrr

POTASH:
you dont need any special tools, just a 52mm box spanner, its not as hard as you think,  there must be someone who lives near to help
