Daz I wanna be in France with your old wagon
So you looking at changing your motor ?
C C:
Well to answer to original question.
I bought a Disco II with around fifty thousand on the clock four years ago. I've added another sixty thousand since then.
Other than service items tyres etc it's had.
2 Airbags.
1 Fuel injector. plus wiring loom.
1 Electric window winder
1 Front Hub assy and track rod.
How would that compaer with a 110,000 mile Jap 4x4?
Jimbo:
My '52 plate Td5 Auto has 92,000 on the clock (80,000 of them done by me), and so far has had.............
One set of BFG AT's - to replace the original worn out rubber
New shock absorbers on all four corners
New o/s window mech (done under warranty)
New n/s/r central locking motor (warranty again)
New main battery
New brake master cylinder
EGR bypass kit
It now needs......
Rear diff input seal - the wife is moaning about the amount of EP90 on the drive !
New windscreen - several large chips that are 'starring'
f/n/s window winder mech - window is permanently fixed shut at the mo
Probably a new set of BFG's before winter, the current ones have done about 70,000 and are getting a bit low - bit still well legal !
As for servicing - I gave up using main stealers a long time ago. A mechanic friend does all the usual service stuff - I change the axle and gearbox oils (auto and transfer) every 12,000 miles. Any specialised stuff (ACE filter etc) gets done at a local independant.
Have I just jinxed it ???????
Jim
dazliss:
I hope not for your sake!!

Never rains but it pours :(

I don't know but with a 200,000 mile jap I've never had any of those problems and I don't exactly threat it with kid gloves
