Petrol in diesel
narked:
SWMBO's dad did that to my Disco. His missus was out in his, and he had to pick up a couple of bales of hay for the horses, so I lent him mine to tow the trailer with. He pulled into the garage with the intention of filling the tank for me (nice of him) but realised at about 38 litres that he had the unleaded pump in his hand.
So we ended up spending an hour or so out in the rain pumping it out by hand. Left a bit of the unleaded in but just kept topping it up with diesel. Suffered a bit when it was pulling neat unleaded through, but after that it was fine. But, as said, that's with a Land Rover engine, an older 300 tdi at that, no fancy bits to get all upset about the strange fuel.
solihull-mick:
Do as rollazuki says, an hdi diesel will destroy its self on petrol, the tollerances are far to high, and as for saying a tdi runs on it, thats ok for a landrover, but hdi injection pressures can reach 12000 bar, a lot more that any old tdi, so dealer all the way 8)

--- Quote from: "andygod" ---Think that Barmie Brumie runs his regularly on a petrol/ diesel/ cooking oil mix, doesn't seem to do his any harm but there again its a Landrover. No doubt he'll be along soon to comment.

Yes but mine is a landrover :D Lot's of modern cars just wont tolerate it

If thats called progress you can keep it, I'd rather have the older Landrover engine.

If I had done that to my 07 Astra I would have had it down the dealers red face and all
