From reading those other topics I would say that anything that was fitted prior to May 25th is legal. I may be wrong, but that seems to be the opinion on the other forums Dave.

From an informed source...
It is now not allowed to produce a-bars or bullbars for fitment to vehicles, nor may any new vehicle have one fitted.
It's not retroactive, so anything already fitted to a vehicle, or sat on a shelf waiting to be sold is fine.
And as for opposing it, you didn't get chance to do that in October 2005, as this is just putting into law the EU directive passed then.
Ho hum, etc...

definition of 'a bars' and 'bullbars' being...?
and from what i read, fitting old bars to old cars is fine?

Irrelevant as you won't be able to buy anything that's illigal ? ;)
