hmmm halon fire extinguisher or a vehicle burning like a good un
you tell me what does more damage to the Ozone layer
Thus why i had a halon for ballast in my racer

i would be interested in the answer to this one!
but generally AFFF foam ones to the trick right?
Terranosaurus:
Ask a fire extinguisher supplier or fireman for their off the record recomendation and I bet everyone of them says Halon/BCF. It puts fires out, you just can't carry enough AFFF to do the job, even the fire brigade leave cars to burn themselves out most of the time because they just relight again after a short time. AFFF is not a lot more than a water and washing up liquid with a CO2 cylinder attached to make bubbles.
Countless rally, race and 4x4s have been lost since the EU banned Halon, and thats cars with large plumbed in systems and 2 handhelds. I know of a former British Champion (and many others) who had his AFFF system refilled with Halon. If you know the right people it can still be done. For competition have the required AFFF and then carry a couple of BCFs too is my advice.

I carry a mobile phone and dial 999 and use thier extinguishers!!!
I have no idea either which one to put in my disco let alone within reach of the drivers seat on where I can nicely mount it!
electricbluebadger:
If you have a powder extinguisher you should remove it once a month and turn it up n down a few times to 'unsettle' the powder.....
Cheers Steve
