just to say a 16v bottom end will go strait on to 8v top.just done it myselt :D also vits arnt cheap when young,im 20 and got a full modded vit and pay well over £2000 a year,plus 2 ncp :(

Well thank you all for your help.
Look as if we will be droping another lump in it and takeing it off road, as you say the insurance is a little high.
Either that or does anyone want to buy a 1990 Vit with a duff engine.

Slightly changing this a bit, but i was looking at Insurance for my vitara out of interest (already sorted somewhere else) but i am 18, passplus and RAC HD Awareness course or whatever it is, no NCB, got a quote for 1038 quid! Which i thought was fairly reasonable!

Maybe it is me but I am 51 years old, 60% NCB and the insurance on my Defender is less than £82 pa fully comp.
Am I 12.5 times less likely to have a claim than you?
Your age group must be a bunch of total loonies if that is the case and I know there are some out there but they are in the minority.
This is just insurance companies cashing in on the drivers of today and the police forces of the country (not the officers but the system they are forced to operate) taking the easy way out.
I have had my company car broken into twice and all the police do is give you a crime number and say contact you insurance.
If they are not even going to investigate the CRIME than where the hell is the deterrent to stop the perpetrators from committing them.

My insurance is 170 for the year. That's a 5000 mile limited policy with all the modifications listed. I have the luxury of another car so a limited mileage policy is entirely acceptable.
It also helps that I'm 30 with full no claims ;)
