sorry, i know theres a sticky all about em but doesnt say about 33inch tyres. 8)
i found some 33/12.50 BFG muds, and they look the bees knees, i think thats the size i'd go for. i like the wider tyres even though width isnt everything and can be a draw back. i found 305/70R16 which is aparently 33.12.50R16. what sort of mods would need to be done to fit on a 300tdi? lift and cuts i gues, but how much? would the gearing be ok?
oooh, and how about 33/13.50s????? :D  :D
also, does anyone know if these landy alloys are any good and if these tyres would fit? how wide do the rims have to be?or is it best for 15 inch rims?

I fitted 33x12.50's , just used +2 lift and cut out arches, no probs at all, used every day...... :D

What on earth has that done to your gearing?!

Thinking of going to 235/85's but caused a big debate with my mates about how to manage the gearing issues... :roll:

Can't imagine what they'd say to yours!  :shock:

To be honest, I don't find the gearing a problem at all, and as you can see it can still pull a decent size trailer. I think if the Disco is in good health it copes with it... I have no problems using 5th gear, although, I must admit I sometimes need to change to fourth when towing..  :lol:

It's the same old thing, every Disco is different.

When I fitted 33x12.5R15's I had to change the transfer box for a TD5 Defender one as, although it would pull with the Disco box, it failed to go up hills and I was using one gear less at slower speeds (3rd at 30mph instead of 4th) as the engine laboured too much. And, before anyone asks, I got an Allard's intercooler and tweeked injector pump!  :wink:

I went with a +3" lift to clear the inner arches on full articulation and also fitted wheel spacers so I still had the normal turning circle. You can get special offset wheels to do the same thing but you need something to keep the turning circle.

Not to mention the caster corrected radius arms, double cardan from propshaft, cranked training arms, propshaft spacers lowered bumpstops and Rangie Spares arch kit.  :wink:

I've just fitted 285.75 16's on Bronco's 7x16 zero offset modulars, and as yet i haven't tried to see what it's like when articulating, i have 2"lift, arches cut out etc..... i had to lose some lock, which i wasn't best pleased about....

Wheels is the biggest dilema, unless you're happy to run spacers.... i wasn't! do not believe Bronco's when they tell you they are getting 8x16 modulars with -5mm offset.... i'd been waiting since october when i gave up and prdered the 7's 2 weeks ago.......!!
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

I put 33x12.50x15 BFG muds on mine .. with:

D44 OME lift 2.5", chopped arches and xtra width flares, Offset mods + 30mm wheel spacers, Equippe rear cranked arms.

No prob's everyday drive, until I crashed it last week  :oops:

Do find the gearing annoying on long drives, the 50mph - 85mph is a long haul. No prob's hitting 50 though  :D

I did have to adjust the steering stop a bit as well on one side as i run a standard panhard which shifts my axle out a little.

right NY4x4, thats spot on! that looks fat, but not over the top! excelent response guys, i think im guna work towards that size. only consern is the gearing, but i gues im guna have to wait and see :lol:  nice one

Got 33's on mine & yes it does affect the gearing a bit but I live with it, when I can get around to it I will change the transfer box :roll:

I have 285/75/16's on mine with a 2" lift. and rangie spares arches.

they are about 34" tall and about 11" wide. Articulates nicely, but gearing is definately too high. If you change the transfer box your high ratio gearing will be reduced low stays the same which is not too much of problem unless you go in for rock crawling etc. on 33's wont be as bad but its certainly drivable. suck it and see. you can get the wheels on wsihout cutting the arches on a 2" lift but they will rub on uneven ground. Depending on what ofset wheels you get you will need spacers (get decent ones).

One thing i can absolutly guarentee whatever siae tyres you get in a few lonths they wont be big enough! My advice go as big as you dare!!!

I would recommend Straightforward supplies for wheels, plenty of offset = plenty of steering lock  :wink:

cheers! glad to hear it isnt going to be as bad as i thought. i asked about 35inch tyres and that requires more work. im definatly getting a 2 inch lift. if my truck's gearing dosnt get along with the tyres, should i go after the defender 300tdi transfer box? and will that be a straight swap without modifying brackets and stuff?

You want a 1.4:1 ratio transfer box or you can keep the 1.2:1 transfer box and change both axle diffs for 4.1:1, this has the added advantage of altering both high & low ratio where as changing the transfer box only alters the high range (low range is the same on all LT230's).

Yes it's possible, it just mean a little more work when cutting the arches at the rear as you have to cut into the rear doors.

I am doing this to mine. I have 10x15 rims with massive offset (they stick out 4" !!!!!Good though as they dont rub on radius arms and I have factory lock or better. Getting the ROCCIA arches as tehy are wider and made well .
33"s will affect gearing so DO bear this in mind . You are welcome to pop down and we could chuck mine on yours at least for you to drive for 10 mins. I have a section of dual carriageway near so you could try 5th ???

            Can you p[lease tell me where you got the rims from as I am thinking about getting some with a better offset mine are 10x15 8 spokes but really would like them to stick out further & get a better lock  :wink:

oh do you know how much they stick out without arches? im planing to get arches, but dont want to get massive ones. going to get the average plastic ones, and if i have to, make up a rubber flap to come out some more.

someone on here has one from D44, i gues its going to be a bit pricey. :( . if im lucky, im going to save for a full external rollcage. i've seen one with a bar section infront of the the rear door, and the tyre bracket was on that. looked really smart. ... but i gues thats going to have to wait :(  hehe 8)

NY4x4 are you running you 33x12.50 BFG's on these wheels without spacers ?

Is the type you have the standard set of 15x10's or are there options ?
