ours stick out about 3/4 inches, we just brough some roccia arches from a guy on here called mike (chuggaman) look him up and PM him he dose nice big wide arches which should just cover the wheels :D plus the look the sex too

I have flares already fitted .. running black 15x8 black mods .. But i need to run with 30mm spacers to keep my steering lock any good ..

You have trouble with turning circle and steeering lock not using spacers ?
Are you running 12.50's ?

we aint runnin spacers at all, and our tyres dont rub on full lock which is good,

but then before we had the rangie the guy who built it had slighly smaller tyres on and they didnt rub either so he obv has already moved teh bolts for the steerin :)

has anyone been pulled over because of the wheels sticking out a bit? whats the penalties? and how much can you get away with?

Could be 3 points and upto Ã‚Â£1000 fine. They even have powers to sieze vehicle !!!
You can get basic roccia ones for about Ã‚Â£150. I am getting the new style ones as I like the look of them .
My wheels were from paddocks Ã‚Â£228 delivered then I added valve bars before a repaint and tyres.
They are the ones on the bullfrog 90 on my website. You can see the offset clearly and how much arch I had to add to cover them (100mm)
I would have prefered modulars but they did not have them in stock at the time. I have emaild LA supertrucks re 10x16 but tehy are rather dear. They can get upto 14x16 for super swamper tyres !! Mind you they are Ã‚Â£140 a rim !! :shock:

Also if you move the original spare wheel carrier up one set of holes and make a cut out for the wiper it works with upto 35" tyre :idea:

got a spare carrier from devon 4x4 about 2 years ago for Ã‚Â£60, a few of the lads around here have cut the studs off and rewelded them higher up.

NY4x4 are you running you 33x12.50 BFG's on these wheels without spacers ?

Is the type you have the standard set of 15x10's or are there options ?

That's right, just the standard 10 x 15 rims - no spacers, and I would say the steering lock is as good as factory fitted :D

also...... spare 33 x 12.50 BFG fits on back door with no mods ( although it does JUST touch the bumper. :shock:)

NY4X4 best thing to do is turn the spear wheel carrier upside down it gives u 2" more clearance!!!

and yeah u can get pulled over with the wheels sticking out,

our roccia flares are on there way cant wiat to fit them!

I have the ones from Devon 4x4, these were the only ones available at the time!

I think this wheel/tyre/Arch/Lift combination look about right, but that is only my opinion... :D

I have now added the wheel spacers and the tyres are now inline with the outer edge of the arches AND I have some steering lock back!

i have 285/75 x 16 cooper discoverers on mine with a 2 1/2 " lift at front and with spacers 4 1/2" at the back, on 16 x 8 modulars, also fitted roocia arches, what do you think

right! thats me decided!
i loved the tread on the recip aggressive tyre but they didnt make them in 33inch. and they are also a remould, which i want to steer away from.
looking at micky thompsons, they are great, and also a little bit wider at 13.50, but a bit expensive. just found exactly what im after!!!! :D :D :D

33X13.50x15!!!! very happy!
also, similar lines as what Ian101 is asking...
will these fit on 15X8 rims, or will it be better on 15X10? i think im going to go for the wider ones, any advantages?

If they're 13.5 inches wide then don't even think about 15X8s they're way to thin.
Also check the offset that you'll need to maintain a reasonable turning circle.
Wide is good for floatation if you're on boggy ground that's deep, but some ground requires a tyre that will bite through the mud on top to get to the harder ground underneath. A wide tyre won't do this because of it's flotation.
Just make sure you get the right tyre for the type of ground you're going to be on most of the time.

its mainly on road now. going for wider tyres isnt a smart move really, but im going for the look really. fuel consumption will go up, and wear and tear on a lot of kit. when offroad i dont do the challenging things anyway. i'll give these a go and see what happens. :D :D :D :D

dave, sounds to me like your gonna waiste a lot of money for stuff that your not gonna need, dont let your heart rule your head, a 13.5 wide tyre is way over the top for a disco, unless your plannig a route round iceland on the glasiers

does anyone have any experience with maxxis tyres? any good? they are a pretty big name, but havnt heard much about. i know their mountain bike and quad bike tyres are really good.
also, would the standard 300tdi high range lug these 33X13.50's about ok? would the Tbox stand up to it for a little while? and whats the best defender box to plop in there? cheers :D
