zulublue:
I have got to do my pinion on the front and would like to know this also
Skibum346:
--- Quote from: "Jonny Boaterboy" ---So to change the pinion oil seal do I just drop the prop shaft off and then pop out the old one and slip in the new....... is it that simple?
--- End quote ---
I seriously doubt it!
You'l probably have to drop both ends of the prop as on some there is a section that goes into the flange... took me 4 hours to change the doughnut on wife's RRC till I realise that I couldn't just take one end off!!
Range Rover Blues:
I had my oil cooler pipes repaired by a local hydraulic hose company. Be careful you get them made up the same length, they will probably want to crimp new hose onto your existing steel hose.
Diff pinion oil seal should be relatively easy once you get the rubber doughnut and the central spigot off, though our '94TDi has conventional UJs on the back so you might get lucky.
Bottom hose, unless it's a serpentine engine then the bottom hose will also have a thinner hose for the header tank, so if you used silicone hoses (you can't get a single peice that shape) then it would be quite a thing to see. Stick with rubber hoses, after all the one that's there has lasted 10 years or more, hasn't it?
Difflock:
Diff pinnion oil seal leaking ??,couldn't that also mean the pinnion bearings are about to enter the charts with a rendition of "oh no my cage has gone,my cage has gone,my cage has gone, sung to the tune of the witch is dead from the wizard of Oz ??
Jonny Boaterboy:
Ummm well spent a few hour's making a device to extract the location lug in the rear axles...... didn't work! have booked it in for my friends who know what there doing to get it out,
Bottom hose took another 3 hours as I couldn't get to the the jubilee clips, anyway managed it in the end only to find that the radiator has gone as well I have a nice new Land Rover one coming on wensday which only cost £300!!!! :o
Does anyone know how to get the viscus fan off? I know you have to undo it clockwise but I can't seem to lock to pulley wheel to enable me to undo the nut.... has any one got any bright ideas??
Thanks all
