Just a quickee

Skibum346:
Never tried it but I believe 'kin big spanner behind the coupling locks the shaft while the nut is undone on the front. There are specialist tools available and advertised in the landy mags... but I think some people manage with a slim spanner.

Hope someone will be along soon to confirm my ramblings!

Range Rover Blues:
It's a LH thread and you need a thin cranked spanner.  Might as well buy the proper tool from Halfrauds, it's less than a tenner and now has both popular sizes on it, later serpentine engines have a RH thread and are bigger to help distinguish.

Range Rover Blues:
Did I see in another thread that yours is a serpentine engine Jonnie? is so the viscous fan is RH thread, the blades are often black to help distinguish.

Jonny Boaterboy:
Yes Mr blues that was me, I tried to put a reply on here as well but the p.c crashed so I went to bed! yes it was a right hand thread you are right, I ended up having to use logic to work out which way to undo the fan as every one was saying something different. so for anyone else trying to work it out the fan will undo the opposite way to which it turns! (i think thats right... )

thanks for you help

Jonny
