:D Evening all, firstly i love Greenlaneing like said previously looking at an o/s map or on wayfinder (a glass thing). Then setting of for the day. Exploring new lanes and places ive not visited yet.
As for play days i use them to test mods on my vehicle and my skill in offroad driveing. I often go to these play days with my mates so the banters good for when myself or my mates get stuck and have to be towed out. And there a good place to meet other like minded people and see what mods theyve done to there vehicles and vise verser... But a £25 or £30 quid a day we dont do that many, only visit well know ones like Tong.ironbridge, buildwas leisure and hartington quarry.

Personally I would love to do a pay 'n' play, there's supposed to be one round here but I havn't had any joy yet. Of course I love greenlaning but I would also like the chance to see what the car will really do in a private space, without the worry of wrecking the countryside or getting stuck in the middle of nowhere. I'm not interested in compaetitive off-roading though, I couldn't afford to keep up.
Guy90:
I do both and enjoy both green laning and pay and play (run them for LRO)! Got into pay and play long before laning   .
If you want to break into challenge events (Which are a bit of a closed shop) then LRO/Protrax run a number of novice events in the year and Ed Cobley is also now running training events for those looking to hone their skills in this area. Visit the new look www.lroac.com for more info.

I'm very new to the whole 4x4 thing. I've done a couple of greenlaning trips locally, which I found really enjoyable :) I was actually going places, experiencing different terrain and seeing stuff you don't notice while blatting along the A roads :D
I went to Whaddon last weekend with my brother and friend. I had a good fun time, got to experience the limits of my cars/tyres grip (a couple of times) and had a few goes at the water!
But, after only 2 - 3 hours, I was starting to wonder what to do. Also, the site started to fill up in the afternoon and places like the small lake were just swarming with people going this way and that.
Personally and especially with the fact that I'm driving a fairly standard Discovery (All-Terrains + diff guards), I think that laning will be my main thing. Hopefully, closed events such as the upcoming Mucky Meetup will be more fun though!
Oh, and I'm really looking forward to the Cerriog / Berwyn Greenlanes trip - exactly the sort of thing I hoped to be doing when I bought my Discovery :D (No pressure Paul  )
