F.A.O Porney...

Whats the way around having to use a td5 under the rear tub you refer to earlier in the post?
And how do the td5's hold up offroad as far as electrics & water. and driveability with that fly by wire throttle? Im not a sceptic of the td5 offroad.. im just interested as ive never driven one offroad!

Where's the extra 'e' from....

Two ways....

Either use a single facet pump as Devon do (AFAIK) - 'I think' they also get rid of the fuel filter - and just run a smaller one instead (not the best method as the proper filter 'filters' down to 3 mircron - to protect the EUI injectors) - but will work without a problem...

Or run a Facet or similar pump and keep the original filter in situ.. which will work, but will not allow the filter to operate correctly (you could actually run two pumps....)

The other method...

I can get a custom aluminium tank made that sits in the standard underseat position - but has the correct apperture to fit the Td5 in tank pump... this means you can keep the standard Td5 filter and pump - and the fuel gets correctly filted and thus prolongs the life of the injector.

A td5 fuel pump is quite special as it offers a two stage pressure...  the fuel is actually filtered twice before it goes through the engine - and works at two different pressures.

Have a read here for more info (as feeling lazy!!): http://www.discoveryownersclub.org/tech/td5engine/

That bit wasn't there when I replied earlier    :?

No problems... and if you look where people like Simon from Devon 4x4 takes his then 'normal   ' people shouldn't have a problem.

The only weak point can be the sealing of the ECU... though this is easily sorted either by re-routing the addtional wiring or via a relocation kit from Dastek (though I might make a couple up soon as I want one!!!) - and thus putting the ECU out of harms way.

Throttle wise... even being submerged doesn't seem to affect things!!!

A Td5 changes the throttle response when you select low range - which works well.... and I for one like the way they drive (both on and off road)

Porny,

I'm told that should i put a TD5 disco engine into my truck that there is an alarm on the ECU that would have to be diabled before i could start it and that you would be able to do this?? :?

If so what sorta price :?

Cheers, Maria
