*annoyed*

<< < (2/4) > >>

Mort:
Well, if it makes you feel any better, I get annoyed when people refer to other 4x4s as Jeeps. :?

The reality is that it's no different to refering to 'Hoovering' when you're actually using a Dyson.  Some people can't be bothered to talk in specifics because their brains are clogged with more important stuff, like reality TV.

sleeplessparadise:
That is something that has always bothered me...... I always refer to it as vaccing..... never hoovering cos I have never owned a hoover    my other half gets annoyed though when people just refer to their 4x4 as a truck.......being an ex hgv mechanic he thinks of trucks as big things you can hit really hard with really big hammers

Littledan:
but i dont see why

land rover - jeep both cars do the same thing
coke and pepsi - same thing u drink em
vaccing and hoovering - same thing sucks up dirt

:?

Jake:

--- Quote from: "Littledan" ---i dont see why people get so anoyed when other people call jeeps land rover and land rovers jeeps they are all as good as one other and go in the mud just cos 1 jap and one isnt dosnt mean u should get anoyed with it!!

people these days :P
--- End quote ---

Its badge pride Dan, nothing more, nothing less
Also people dont like generalisation and being pigeon holed in a category of the wrong brand for the product
There's nothing wrong with Jeep
Land Rover thought it was so good they copied it
The modern day version would be like calling a Land Rover a Mitusbishi (or some other brand)

It depends where you are coming from I think.

Commercially a term becoming ubiquitous is a problem,  do you think Jeep like all cars (even shoddy fall apart ones they don't make) being called Jeeps,  do Land Rover like people calling their cars by the name of their competitors ?   Granted, you don't work for either of those companies and therefore I wouldn't expect you to give two hoots, but I hope you can see where they're coming from.

From a customer perspective it can be annoying too,  aside from the (hopefully) light hearted inter vehicle bickering between owners there is a point to make that peoples tastes do vary,  granted it would take someone who was terminally tone death to fail to spot the difference between say greenday and take that, but I don't think you'd fully appreciate being referred to as a barlowite simply because "well, you listen to music and it's all the same".   A fairly extreme example I grant you...

Then again, having said all of that, I think, to be honest,  provided people stop referring to them as "climate killing child mutilating abhoritions owned by evil people who put babies on spikes" I probably couldn't care less if they called roo a jeep, a landy or a lada :D
