Tyre choice poll
Range Rover Blues:
The difficulty is not so much the quality control of the retread process, but of guarenteeing the quality of the carcass underneath - it's not always possible to see what damage the previous owner has done.
He had fitted a set of retreads a couple of weeks previously that a customer had ordered over the internet, and was unable to put enough weights on the wheel to balance out the irregularities in the tyre. Doesn't sound too good to me...

Not the first time I've heard this. Worse still BECAUSE you don't know anything about the four tyres under the stick on covers you can't even guarantee they will handle anything like each other.
If I were seriously off-roading I'd do as cowboy does, especially as 4 remoulds on white 8-spokes are so cheap and then you can have really agressive treads.
So can we clarify, are we voting for an all-round tyre, a road tyre or just what we have fitted ourselves (whatever the purpose)?
Digsit:
Here's an outrageous idea.
vote for Retreads if you personally would fit em for any application
vote for not retreads if you personally would not fit retreads under any circumstances
or
stick one vote in each if you would fit retreads just for off road use and 'new' tyres for tarmac.
or
dont vote yet if undecided
Radical eh? Just a bit of fun we said. :D :D

This isn't Florida you know !
Besides, the system won't let you cast more than one vote...
Digsit:
 Thanks for that Tim :D
Just trying to keep things light hearted O:)
Bush Tucker Man:
Done circa 8,000miles on the Colway 235/70 All-Terrains & not a single problem.
Well, one slow leak, but that was a scabby rim not sealing properly.
I had the Bronco M/T's (BFG pattern) on the 110Tdi (in a 235/85 section), they were superb.
They handled everything from motorway trips to Plymouth, to Welsh mountain roads, to Tong.
They let me down once, on Pendine Sands, but we got out in low-range & diff-lock.
No, no qualms here about re-moulded tyres
