--- Quote from: "Disco-Ron" ---Just had another odd thought...... the tyres i have are 235's...... so why does the tread only measure 205 in width....??? and on that note, what would a 265 actually measure...??

235 is a measure of the tyres section width not tread width.
A useful source of tyre info

The best source of speed rating for your grizzlys is to look on the side walls of your tyres, after the tyre size information there should be a load index number (2 or 3 digits) followed by a letter that corsponds to speed rating.

Just an update.....
I returned the wheels i had to D4x4 as the offset wasn't what i wanted, i rang Bronco 4x4 and they do the right wheels for me, but they're out of stock.... (typical) and tyres..... well, seeing as i will have an 8 inch rim, i've gone for 285/75 16's, which are exactly the same as a 33 12.50 16.....
in other words.... pretty damn big for a Disco...:)
I'll post pics when they're all fitted, but that won't be til mid jan.....ish!

285*0.039371 = 11.22" wide
285*0.75*0.039371*2+16 = 32.83" diameter
In theory anyway . . . . and not same as 33/12.5R16 . . . . but pretty close.
Expensive option as well cos it's an 'unfavoured' tyre size.
Still look good on the Disco though, with lift and arches, they simply just won't fit through the gates and down half the lanes I drive cos they are too wide . . . . shame really cos I like the look of them wide tyres on a well set up Disco
