What tyres....
clbarclay:
10 and a bit wide is perfecty normal for a 265 tyre.
As for height, all retreads come a bit higher than there new counterparts particuarly the more aggresive tread paterns, its not just the insa turbos. 35x10.5 fedimas are come slightly taller than simex of the same size and 265/70r16 recip trails are as good as 32" tall, by which should work out at a 265/75 recip measuring 33" tall.

Does a different speed rating apply then to mud biased tyres ?
Looking in the Discovery workshop manual Land Rover say to fit an S or T rated tyre yet I am struggling to find a decent mud tyre in that rating. Nearly all the mud tyres in the size I want 245/74/R16 seem to be Q rated which I gather is winter/reinforced rated but has a lower speed rating than S or T eg the Cooper STT or BFG Muds.

I have 235/85 Machos on my disco. Fantastic off road grip. Deep mud that I would be scared to look at with Colway muds on is no problem at all, I havn't got stuck since fitting them athough they are M rated, I think thats 81mph.
Pretty hard wearing and suprisingly quiet on the road, no silent but not in your face noisy.
Disco-Ron:
The tyres i have are 235's, and i know how good they are.... looks like i'll be ringing d4x4 in the morning to ask about the wheels offset.......
Disco-Ron:
Just had another odd thought...... the tyres i have are 235's...... so why does the tread only measure 205 in width....??? and on that note, what would a 265 actually measure...??
