sky fitters shoddy workmanship

I've been fitting a 2way radio in the works hilux today, and did a better job of it than that. I just wish i'd taken the day off, he'd of been out the door so quick he'd of landed 3 streets away :arrow: .

I'm gonna get them in to rip it out an put everything right. it's been in less than day an i'm not happy, not alot of point continuing. We would have had cable in preferance but there isn't any  :(

Isn't that an internal wall?? how come he did that??? i have just received a questionare after they did some work at our house look out you should get one and then..... well i wouldn't like to read it with out an 18 certificate :shock:  :lol:  :lol:

That's typical of the standard of workmanship in this country nowadays, no one gives a sh**e. In my position as a Gas Fitter you would be amazed at some of the things I come across in some houses, even stuff that is illegal and dangerous :shock:  :shock: .

When I do an intruder alarm install or telecoms job I'm damm careful to do the best job I can, Bunnie will back me up on this. I cannot understand how they do these jobs. EG NTLy left a 30cn but 10cm crater in the pub wall, took all the rendering off the lot, on a listed building, then hid it behind a bush! All the comms and alarm cabling I put in on the outside, well, you cant actually see it.

Have them back, point out WHY thats not on and get the fitter back to explain WHY he did that. that makes no sense and whats worse is there could perceivably be cable in the wall there. That cable should have been as close to the frame or skirting board as possible if not behind the skirting board if removing it was feasable. Alternatively if the floor above/below isnt obstructed it should have been in the floor.

In a perfect world where the SKY fitters didn't have 10+ jobs a day yes but realistically that is never going to happen on a free install offer.  Ours wasn't  too bad given they were in and out in less than 30mins but if you want a proper installation with cable hidden under floorboards/behind skirting etc then you'll have to pay someone to do it.  As it is they will take the easiest route although the one in the picture above is taking the p**s!
