Hassle on a legal right of way

I leached this from a usenet newsgroup. I think the situation was dealt with extremley well by the motorcyclists. It just goes to show the prejudice that we as offroaders are having to endure. Some of the comments in relation to the situation on usenet have been, how can i put this, a little crass.

I would be interested to hear views of this clubs members

What is there to say, they were acting responsibly and got held up by a muppet who was clearly spouting rubbish. Its not uncommon and thankfully they not only acted correctly, but were polite and patient and got it all on film :)

As a GLASS Rep I can only applaud Andy in the manner in which he handled this miss-informed ignoramous.

The old rule still stands, if you don't want to meet motor vehicles when out walking/riding then don't go where we are legally allowed to be, use the 94% of lanes and paths where we are not allowed to be!!!.

I dare say that the TRF guys have done their research and know that they are in the right.
Unfortunately, some people don't like that.
I'm just wondering what the TRF policy is about the number of bikes in a group i.e the guideline given in the LRO Greenlane Code is to travel in groups of four or less. Although there is no legal requirement to limit numbers, that could have been a reason why cyclist bloke got ratty.
I'm just playing devil's advocate on that point.
I had a similar experience a couple of years ago in the Lake District.
I had a female rambler stand in front of my Disco on the Walna Scar Road, calling me an eco terrorist and threatening to get the Police there to have me arrested for damaging the rock track.
In regards to the cyclist in the footage; it was fairly evident that he doesn't like other people carrying out an activity that they enjoy, legally.
On another note, I wonder what the old boy in the red Rover was upto? A bit of fly tipping perhaps?

Well done him.

I was only out all of three weeks ago and was met by a person who although said nothing was cleary not happy about the presence of the 4 landies Crawling up the UCR towards him.
What i then saw i couldn't actually belive my ears (as i had gone on and was told on the CB by the sweeper), That he got out a pad of paper and  a pen, then preceded to take down details of out vehicles. If i had seen this i would of questioned him to his actions.
The area in question Is near a village called harburton, It is main demographic is second home owners or those who have retired from the major cities to a 'Rural villiage in the country' the houses are worth a lot and the peoples attitudes are plain snobbish. I make a habit of having a quick chat to all those who i pass, but the majority of the time they look down on me as the spawn of the devil.
