We had an Ebay problem like this a while ago.
We won a childs scooter for not very much money and the seller was only about 10miles away.
So we asked if we could collect instead of paying the £20 p&p but they declined.
We asked again stating it was for childs birthday the next day and they still declined.
Aparently they dont do collections, hence the rather large £20 p&p.
When it turned up it had been wrapped in bubble and sent by snail mail couriers (1 week).
Not exactly £20's worth of p&p but i guess thats how they made their money back on the low finishing auction.
Read over the item you have won carefully. If it does'nt say you can collect they have the right to say no to it.

I guess some sellers would prefer you not to know their address regardless of where you live. As an occasional ebay seller..it is a bummer when your item sells for less than you hoped :?

If she hasn't stated that you can collect and not pay postage costs then it's all part of the overall cost.
You could maybe ask if she'll compromise, say pay half her postage cost if you pick it up. if not then you might as well get her to send it.
