Is my new number plate legal?

Number one in that list is the crux as all new number plates must conform to BSAU145d and I believe that is where the relevent details re:postcode/name of shop will be found. The makers name and postcode must be on there so as if the police are investigating where a particular plate came from they can check with the shop what details they have on file.

Nothing to say the plates we not made before the legistation came into force :D

Range Rover Blues:
Absolutely, the regulation is on plate manufacturers (I mean the guy who sticks the numbers on, not the plastics factory) and not the owner/end user.  Once in your possesion the only thing that is required is the correct reflective background and the style and size of the letters, correctly spaced.

You can legaly have "Janet Street Porter is a hypocrite (in my opinion)" accross the bottom, as long as the numbers themselves are correct.

If it fits "into an area 178 x 13mm, centered at the bottom of the plate" ;)

I've used malplates.co.uk for our motorcycle plates and been very pleased
