Hi Clones and Kenlowes

<< < (4/4)

Jas278:
I fitted a Kenlowe to my 300tdi , and expierenced cooling probs when towing , my van is a twin axle, after speaking to kenlowe technical they do not reccomend there fans for towing over 1500kgs (a sucker fan that is ) they say fit a blower and leave the viscous on, I have removed my kenlowe and run with my viscous only , my mpg is ***** on my 300 offroader moded up, on  my road going 300 tdi i average 28/30 on a regular basis with a viscous unit. After my probs i wont go back to Electric..

I have no idea how to work out MPG. How many miles do you get to a tank of diesel?

I have a 300tdi auto (evil auto   )  and the last tank of diesel I got exactly 400 miles out the tank. That was doing about 30 miles laning, an hours towing a twin axle caravan and some tootling about in a field setting up a festival so about 10-15 miles doing that. the rest was on the road. The last 30miles I guess I have had the exhaust gas recirculater thing disconected.  It did an hours worth of motorway driving alone and that was doing 60-65. Except for that it was all running around town stuff.

Would you say this is good mpg or [throw it] poor?

I keep looking into the Hi clones and dont know if they would work or not. I am more interested in the time the turbo kicks in not so much the mpg. I was told by a Landy place up near Derby (I forget thier name now) that they get the turbo kicking in alot sooner and there is a noticeable difference in 0-60 speed. At the moment mine feels dangerous pulling out at roundabouts and stick a caravan on you have to wait for a 10mile gapin traffic before I dare pull out
