Injector lifespan

<< < (4/4)

hobbit:
Regular servicing on the vehicle, filters and oil etc will help, an occasional additive in the tank to clean the injectors too wont do any harm

Still no guarantee on when to do them though.

One telltale sign would be the consumption and also mot test on the emissions

Obviously cheap dodgy diesel can do nastery things too

Paul.K/LuckyTrucker:
Hi there, yes mine revs to 4,000 rpm no problem, I don't like to hold it there too long just incase. Maybe the reason it revs so easily is because it gets regular injector cleaner and it is on 205x16" tyres. I never beleived in any of it until I bought some at basement price , not a well known brand it was in a dull looking pakaging so I thought why not. It put a whole new edge to the performance of my MK1 Trooper. I suppose it is about once a month it gets the treatment just before I have to tow our club trailer that when loaded goes somewhere around 2 1/2 - 3. tons so any help is appreiciated.

Boomer:
I believe the maximum revs for a 300Tdi is 4250, I would guess the engine is governed to this figure.
I rarely take mine over 3000, don't seem to need to go any quicker getting up to speed, generally don't go much over 2500 in top when cruising.
Maybe I'm just a boring old f@rt !!

davidlandy:
yep- sounds like it Im afraid
