I wouldnt bother now you have told them you intend to take further action just go straight for the court route.

Even if you want to go with traiding standards still fill in the court forms and get them sent off.
I had problems with a rip off merchant car dealer a couple of years back (loooooonngggg story)and I went to local traiding standards and they advised they would investigate but should go with court claim as well as this normaly is (a)quicker (b)a lot more likley to get a result.
May sound like a stupid question but have you spoken to your card company :?:
If anything has been paid to you they should have a record even if its not cleared
Give them a bell again explain whats happening and say you looking at legal action against WU Ask the card company if they will give you a letter stating that no money has been paid back to your account from WU when they claim

what I would do now is write to WU <not email> saying they have 30 days to resolve payment and to refund you with any relevent intrest and costs incurred by yourself resolving situation etc or you will proced with legal action - remeber if it does go to court the courts will normaly award you costs for lost time hassle etc

Keep a copy of the letter, send it recorded delivery (then they cant claim its not been delivered as they have to sign for it)
Dont bother to wait the 30 days just get the forms filled in and sent
 :wink:

No thanks needed one but your in my debt now. So can you weld  :?:
<only joking>

Now what I would be doing is contacting bank to find out when the funds where actualy paid into your account.
Then contact WU again tell them they have cost you time and money then claim compensation with back up of when funds where paid to bank account as it sems they have been generaly messing you about. If they arnt forthcoming then go to press.

Edge:
I can weld as long as its fencing railings/RSJ & other heavy grade, but my arc welder just blows holes through chassis, no matter how low the setting is.
My chassis welding quote from garage was £180+........ So, i went to local steel fabricators and they did it for £24:00p.
