Steering Box Drop Arm

<< < (3/3)

Tony W:
i am waiting to get a price from the garage before i decide what to do

davidlandy:
on my old 90 I did a very silly thing to get the drop arm off , silly but appeared to work.

I loosened the nut a bit and just drove the motor till the drop arm loosened off !   then undone the nut fully and the arm could be removed by hand.

 - safety disclaimer - I am not suggesting that u do this!

Totaly agree that the more desperate to finish the more likely to get no-where.
I wanted to do the balljoint on ours because the t**t who owned it before span the drag link over to bind on the drop arm balljoint housing, thereby removing the slack.  With the drag link off it was like a baby's rattle.  I bust 3 pullers including a Sykes Pickavant even though it was getting damn hot from the torch.  I ended up grinding the insides out with a Dremmel and pressing the new one in with a G-clamp.
