--- Quote from: "Range Rover Red" ---I was so surprised by this, I thought it was worth a mention.
Going up the M1 this morning, I was approaching the bit where the right hand lane was closed near Sheffield - guess which lane I was in! about 800m from the road works. I decided to 'get in lane' and put my left indicator on. Who should drop back to let me in but ... Mr. BMW! I acknowledged his courtesy with a flash of indicators on both sides and a raised-hand 'thank you' through the back window - and got a 'you're welcome' wave in return :o :D
Maybe a one-off, but they do exist!

have you been on the moonshine :?:

Ah but it brings the question.. why were you in the outside lane that close to roadworks??
I just love that type when im in the wagon.. had one on tuesday - M6 junction 6 is closed, signs for about 4 miles before...so guess what the guy in a vw passat tried to do??? braked - and had half opened his door (think he was going to move the cones) then decided against it as me in scania gave him full horns and lights - and also a nice man in a blue suit and a white range rover :D:D politely asked him to move (exact words were "F*** that F****** thing off NOW!!" then pulled him in after the roadworks.. never seen a red policeman before!!!
lol

Maybe he was feeling sorry for the 4x4 driver, they are more villified than the BMW drivers nowadays!
This post touches on one of my major road irritants. So when you have a dual carriage way, or motorway for that matter, being reduced by one lane because of road works why does everybody move over at least 3/4 mile before - especially in rush hour when the traffic is backed up and stationary.
The Highway code clearly states that all lanes should be used and that at the point of joining vehicles should merge in turn.
Now if you try to do this you are viewed as the most ignorant driver on the planet - even though you are the one that is following the highway code. This use of both lanes incenses people so much that they block both lanes to prevent this because you are viewed as qeue jumping. But if everybody used both lanes there would be no need!
Just a small irritant of mine.
Steve
