Northmead:
Hi All,

After a very interesting chat this evening with a friend about towing and Land Rovers. The Point that was made is this.:

Can you drive a Series 2 / 3    109" 12 Seater Station Wagon on a Cat B car licence or do you need a Mini Bus Licence D1. Even thouugh you use the landy as a private car. or do you just take out the rear seats and make it a 6 seater.

All this is that you passed your test after 1 Jan 1997

Interesting ???????

had that prob with my dads 110 csw when i passed my test, removed the rear bench seats making it a 5 seater n that was me driving it legally

ian_s:
this was discussed somewhere else too, but i dont think anything was decided either way
it *might* be legal so long as its for personal use. but is it worth risking your license for?

EvilEd:
If the V5 says more than you are allowed, then removing the seats has no effect unless you get the V5 updated as well. It's the V5 data that they'll book you against.... And of course, your insurance will be invalid as you have modified the beast without telling them!

dew1911:
I'm having the same issue with my 110 CSW - The simplest option is to take the two rear benches out so you end up with 6 seats and a massive boot.

Although, the V5 on my 110 is blank under seating capacity so I'm thinking I might try for a while and claim they are not seats, as it's not like they are individual or anything.

For the record, if you pass after 1997 you can only drive up to 9 seats on your car license or you need a D1.
