speedo reading

<< < (3/5) > >>

--- Quote from: "Canada Al" ---You have changed the final drive ratio . Not from the land rover but from the range rover . If you ran 3.54:1 (range rover ) diffs and range rover sized tyres the speedo should read right , but you have 4.7:1 diffs so the speedo will read wrong . You can for a small fee ( At least you could at one time ) send your clock to smiths and they will alter the clock to suit your diffs and tyres etc .  I had this done when I fitted 3.9:1 diffs to my Siia FC .
As an after thought I have never known a series land rover  speedo to read right anyway . :D

near enough,  is good enough for me!!!

mark.yellow.series.3:

--- Quote from: "ian_s" ---so your running basically a standard v8/lt95 setup but with series3 diffs?
wow.
thats gonna accelerate well, but i reckon you'll top out at about 65mph
is there any reason you've kept the series diffs?
--- End quote ---

i dont plan on going any faster the 50mph or there abouts, i kept the series diffs coz iam not bothered about going fast or spending any more money, as the truck is primarily being ued off road i thought the lower ratio would be more of an advantage. but the box has got an overdrive which will help the motorway runs.

mark.yellow.series.3:

--- Quote from: "Steel" ---Mark, you have put CV swivels onto the front axle right?
--- End quote ---

not yet, i shall look at that last. i only found out that snippet of info after i had bought and half fitted the RR box
the CV's arent that dear to buy, ive just got to source some half shafts and other little bits, hope i dont need to replace the whole swivel ive heard that the stage 1v8 swivles are bigger.

Miniman:
That is a appitite for distruction.....he he G'N'R...

The series diffs will brake halfshafts for fun if ya not carefull. They will put alot of tourqe onto the shafts. I would be looking for some second hand RR diffs if I was you..... Sorry to be a stick in the mud.... :?

mark.yellow.series.3:
will probibly change the diffs one day, but not on the list at the mo (just trying to get it on the road first!
but iam a careful driver, always thinking of the stresses iam putting on the vehicle when using the right foot.  O:)

ps what kind of difference is there between the 4 speed RR box and a 4 speed series box :?:
