speedo reading

mark.yellow.series.3:

--- Quote from: "Tigger" ---Depends on the tyre size ;-)

The diffs will make the gearing different, but if you are running larger than the stock 205 tyres then it might be back near correct

the tyres are 237/70/16 amazons,
but the diffs are standard, as is the speedo, its just the different tyres and the RR gearbox.

Canada Al:
You have changed the final drive ratio . Not from the land rover but from the range rover . If you ran 3.54:1 (range rover ) diffs and range rover sized tyres the speedo should read right , but you have 4.7:1 diffs so the speedo will read wrong . You can for a small fee ( At least you could at one time ) send your clock to smiths and they will alter the clock to suit your diffs and tyres etc .  I had this done when I fitted 3.9:1 diffs to my Siia FC .
As an after thought I have never known a series land rover  speedo to read right anyway . :D

ian_s:
so your running basically a standard v8/lt95 setup but with series3 diffs?
wow.
thats gonna accelerate well, but i reckon you'll top out at about 65mph
is there any reason you've kept the series diffs?

Neil Jones:
get someone to drive at steady speeds from say 20 to 70, then when you're stopped tip-ex on the speedo what speed you were doing (or memorise it - in my S3 with the speedo waving all over the place I'm doing 30 at approx 26 on the speedo, 40 at approx 33 on the speedo, above that your guess is as good as mine!!)

Rich_P:
Mark, you have put CV swivels onto the front axle right?
