wheel nuts
muddyjames:
I changed my wheels the other day to my off road ones ready for sunday and I found a wheel nut that was on only finger tight.
Also someone on here that I wont mention had been to Wales the weekend before and driven home and back to work and then nearly home until he got stuck down a byway and it took me 3 hours to rescue him.
He lost some red fluid whilst being stuck and we thought it was power steering fluid and he was complaining that his steering was funny on the way home and he pulled over onto the berge and said its getting worse. My dad replied its only the power steering pump with no fluid in. He started to pull away and wobble wobble the wheel fell off!!! He managed to do a couple of hundred miles on finger tight nuts. lucky really

--- Quote from: "woody" ---a tyre on the front looked slightly soft when i parked up last night
so this morning nipped into the local petrol station to use the air line
just blowing the tyre up and noticed one of my wheel nuts loose with a 1/4 inch gap between the nut and the wheel
luckily i had my tyre bar in the boot a quick check revealed all the wheel nuts loose on that wheel all others OK
now i should know better
will go home tonight and give myself a good slapping

You dont suppose thieves were going to pinch your tyres and got as far as starting to undo the nuts and then got disturbed to you?
