Disco vs RR
gtomo2:
well to throw in my pennys worth ( before it gets taxed  ). I brought a rr classic as i just love them plus after driving my in laws disco i found the drive comfort of the rr much better. i can live without the extra headroom and as for load space in the back both myself and inlaws have the same size load boxes with both mine in the back there is still about 8 to 10 inchs spare before the back door but on the disco its about 3 inches.

For what it's worth I'd tend to go for a mix:
The Older Range Rovers I suspect are owned by people who need to ask for help less, the newer ones tend to be owned by a generation that are not so computer literate and unlikly to use Mud Club.
The disco was aimed fromt eh start at a targe audience who would be the people to be using computers.
It was just curiosity, I do like the idea that Disco drivers are more freindly though (so says the man changing from Disco to RR)

Not sure about the bit stating that disco drivers are more friendly - I reckon that the opposite is true - (well up here anyway) - I find that disco owners can be quite snobby and full of their own self importance - not all of course but just the impression I get with some - maybe it is just a geographical thing and doesn't happen in other parts of the country ?
BRO:
I would have loved a RR - but main driving force for Disco was 7 seats... - Otherwise I probably wouldn't have had the option of any kind of Landy  - Wife was contemplating Renault Espace type... err 'thing' :(bloodshot):
I absolutely love mine  & the new one is EVEN better... 8)

Had both, got the Disco now.
Lets not forget for many the Rangie is also a Status symbol i.e. costs more.
The Rangie for me was more practical for doing DIY and hanging sheets of 8 by 4 out the back with the tail gate down.. try that in a Disco with the door open.
I like our Disco as it has 2 extra seats. Twas cheaper than the same spec Rangie of same age and lets face it I want value for my £ not some thing thats 8 / 9 years out of date on the Jones's must have list.
Disco is great for caravanning (more load space) and less faffing about putting more than one demented dog in the back.
Don't get me wrong , love them both for different reasons. Underneath they are the same vehicle in essence. RRC and D1's share many items... Windscreen.... doors etc (profile of the body work is different but the inards are the same.
Now personally the 101 has it overall :D
