courier company

Wanderer:
I used to make a fortune out of companies like ANC when they really get it wrong and had to use our immediate courier service.
We'd charge them 10 times what they were originally paid to transport the goods.

Sorry guys but not impressed. Last week it was "next working day" delivery that took 4 days and an hour on the phone.
This week it is a within 3 working days. should have been here yesterday. I am now at que position 2 on the customer services line.

Paddocks need a change I think

had the same sort of thing
got a card through the door on wednesday as was out when they tried to deliver my steeing guard.
Phoned them on thursday morning bang on 9am when the local depot opens and told that would be able to collect.
Women on the other end of phone was really just not intrested in helping so asked for batch number - the writing was unreadable on the card so I told her this and all I get was a deep sigh on the phone and asked for my postcode
after 5 minutes and 3 attempts she manages to type it in correctly and say I can collect the parcel at any time.

Drive down to local depot and get there about 1pm and the guy takes the card off me - smae thing happens with the batch number - guy goes away for 10 minutes then comes back "oh can I take your postcode as we cant read this"
takes my postcode then vanishes for 10 minutes only to come back and say the package has gone back out on the van and I should of called to arrange collection
Told the guy I did call at 9am to say I would collect only to meet with a blank look so he goes off again to look 15 minutes later he comes back with my parcel. No appology or anything

while I was waiting though there where the normal corperate magazines lin the reception area big head line on one was ANC wins national customer service award

they lied

Wanderer:
Biggest laugh (well sort of) I ever had was when I'd ordered a rear HD recovery bumper from Scorpion. It was missing in transit.
I got the consignment number from Scorpion and rang the couriers Nottingham branch.

Where do you live mate?

Er NG6.

Ah NG6 would be in our Newark depot.

So here's me 2 miles from their depot in Nottingham and my stuff is stuck in their Newark branch because they deliver to the NG6 postcode.

Crazy or what.

abinitio:
As previously stated couriers vary area to area, personally never had and probs with ANC down here.

As for courier customer service, remember you are NOT their customer, Paddocks are their customer, you are merely the consignee and as such, out of the thousands of parcels they deliver daily, you are not particually important. Sad but very true.

Bob696:
well the stuff arrived at 3.45 yesterday in an unlivered van. Still 2 days late but I have it now. Looks like complaints flying around (including to paddocks) might have got results.

I will try to avoid using anc again.

Best courier company I have encountered so far is Initial city Link. They even recalled a van off its route back to the depot to give me a parcel as I was there and not at home.
