BUDGET COULD HOLD A SHOCK FOR 4X4 DRIVERS
bezzabsa:
as i understand it laws cannot be applied retrospectively,(ie applied to vehicles in existance) i assume that this is going to be for NEW vehicles only.. but will it include the new jag x type? or audi quattros?
wonder if its time to lobby for the re-introduction of tex exempt status???
big fanfare when it was introduced..then 18 months later dropped without so much as a single explanation!!!
thank god my S3 is tax exempt!!

Oh well...
What's a few hundred quid to someone who can obviously afford £80k for a 4x4......oh wait.....250g/km??????
That's LOTS of cars too..........

It also doesn't include many 4x4's including manual gearbox Diesel Discovery 3s. Emission data on vehicles that are covered by the current banding system can be found at http://www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/
The original proposal from the RAC Foundation is at http://www.racfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=342&Itemid=35 . I can see no mention of 4x4 vehicles there. Neither can I see anything in the quote of what the minister said, when this was reported just days ago (full marks to the times for recycling) http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,22749-2060433,00.html . Perhaps the 4x4 spin has been chosen by the times as it makes a better headline than "Budget could hold a shock for Vauxhall Vectra drivers"
Regards
Andy

I could read Lord of Rings before I got to 60mph ;-)
