running problem>>HELP
clairedave:
have contatced a mate who works for landrover recovery,he is coming this weekend thinks its electrical problem, let u all know, fingers crossed etc.if he cant fix it then we are in trouble.
Xtremeteam:
sounds like a headgasket on its way out
Range Rover Blues:
So have you cooked 2 AFM, or are you saying the 1st was toasted for sure? In which case it may have done a little damage.
Are yu sure the ECU is still good, ours would run fine from cold (went like a train) but was awful when hot. A V8 will steam in this weather, it's BL***Y COLD. If you saw mine set of up the road you'd think it ran on old rope.
Greybeard:
This is exactly the same problem i am having. Have rebuilt the engine and should be firing her up tonight , also replacing the ignition amplifier with a known good one.
Will let all know.
As an aside, my old headgaskets were fine. but i did have an incorrect reading when testing the amp as per Mr.Haynes.

clairedave:
landrover technician thinks it is amplifier on dizzy<this is a common fault on classics, when cold runs as if nothing is wrong! Then as engine reaches temp amplifier signals break down. :? He hopes to be here before the weekend to change part and check out engine, does not think it is head gasket and AFM the first one,one of the glow wires have broken off;but engine still ran.so finger crossed again :?:
