Oh well there goes a large chunk of my hard earned. Just been and booked the motor in for a new rear cross member and a little patch to be welded on the chasis. now to go and find £600 ish    still i do love the landie and it needs doing i suppose!

petergalileo:
Answer is, buy yourself a mig welder for about £200 and teach yourself to weld.  I did, saved a fortune and its not as difficult as everyone thinks either !

davidlandy:
we did Jimbobs in half a day,  the new Xmember was about £120 from memory.

we bolted it onto the chassis then welded as well - belt n braces.

sound advice above, get yourself a MIG, if u are having to get little holes welded now you WILL be needing it again!

once you have one you will wonder how you managed without!

way2deep:
ouch, that hurts.....sound advice mate get a welder and learn yourself.lot cheaper in the long run and then you could end up doing everyone elses too  :D

snezza69:
Just welder a new X-member onto my project, easier than I thought it would be however I was working on a bare chassis.  Even though I would say its certainly worth a go.  It may even be worth doing all the prep first and then hiring a welding kit over the weekend.  Much cheaper option.
