why it's a good idea to fit inner tubes...

<< < (3/5) > >>

Henry Webster:
I run tubes in tubeless tyres and wouldn't do anything else for racing.  I agree a method of beadlocking would probably be better, but expensive and the type of system is horses for courses really.  I would only be interested in the positve (bolted) locking of the bead.

The key to running tubes in tubeless tyres is to remove the tags from the tyres and then they do not chafe.

me thinks someone else will be posting on this topic tonight   :)

rollazuki:
only problem with tubes is if you lower the tyre pressure, the constant rubbing inside the tyre can cause the tube to fail.

Theres always the other option........

Stop hitting things and bustin the tyre off the rim......!

It didnt fall straight off now did it? :D

oakeedokee:
No it didn't fall straight off. I noticed it was losing air from around the bead and so made my way gingerly about 30 yards to some water to try and wash out the muck, but the tyre decided to leg it in the meantime. It wouldn't have been a problem with tubes fitted as it wouldn't have deflated in the first place. (assuming all of the above of course, tags removed from inside tyre, etc.).

V8MoneyPit:
They're not remoulds are they? Had someone have a certain well known remould come off a rim out laning.... yes just greenlaning! I suspect the tyre was underinflated to start with, but it was hardly being abused at the time. With a little lateral thinking and some butter, they got the tyre seated again

Found a second tyre on the same car with a dodgy bead. Had to deflate that one too, to get the bead seated back in again.
