6cyl series lll query

v8kenny:
Hi All
I have the chance of getting a series lll 109 truck cab which would be a usefull addition to the fleet
It is in superb condition but has the 6 cyl engine
Does anyone have any info (or runs ) on this engine - I beleive engine parts are getting scarce and it also has a unique gearbox ?
A realistic view of fuel consumption / top speed would be usefull too along with any vices this motor could have
Thanks in advance
Kenny

In my opinion there is no greater engine, my dad has the 2.6 - 6 cyl and its lovely, all the bad press it gets is really unjustified.  It has plenty of power, runs really quiet, has a great purr under power - WOW, just the best.  I wouldn;t swap this engine for anything in a landie, infact I want to one day put one in a SWB just because its such a nice engine.

Great engines!

Burn Valves like any other landy lump but they are available.

Sis bought two lumps for hers on Ebay for £10.51 the pair.

Gear box is the same as normal SIII's but for a longer bell housing.

Pics of sis's 109 2.6 Here..

Thanks guys
Think I'll have to have this one - really is in cracking nick - the chassis is superb and has been gloss painted !

The bulkhead (or at least the tunnel/trans cover) is different isn't it?
