It's a Land Rover thing!
DISCO-CHRIS:
Very good point!!! all the farmers out my way give the weirdest of looks!
and the disco,s are normally to clean to be mud clubbers!
think the most miserable group tho have to be the p38 crowd!!
dave_2A_2.25Turbo:
I usually get a wave from other Series or Defender drivers - very rarely from Disco or RaRos though
Toppa:
i used to wave at all landy's but it is rare a disco driver waved back, so now i only wave at a kitted disco....
Cheers
Bush Tucker Man:
It's a bit of a mixed bag as you state.
Series/90/110/Defender drivers usually wave unless it's a Public Utility vehicle (or military  )
Discovery drivers :? Unless it's obviously modified, muddy, or otherwide recognisable as a lunatic (sorry; enthusiast) you'll have to take 'pot-luck' with a wave.
From past experience the friendliest waves are between 101FC owners, as there's so (comparatively) few of them
davidjmiller:
Richard's spot on here. It has to be an enthusiast or the odd person who just waves back in case they really know you but are not sure.
The older the landy the more chance. No possibilities with farmers, people who drive landies for their work (they don't know how lucky they are!!) or drivers of Range Rovers (especially sports).
I've kinda worked this out through my errors and being laughed by the wife when I've waved at someone who proceeds to look at me as if I'm an imbecile.
The best thing is when I'm out in her Clio and I'm still waving at Landy drivers!!! That confuses em.
