Help - Cutting Out

<< < (3/3)

ian_s:
it sounds to me like either you are getting air in the fuel system, or a lack of fuel pressure.
if you get air in, you normally get diesel out, so check for puddles of it on the floor
the fuel pressure could be down to the filter, or a faulty lift pump. (if the vauxhalls have such a thing

Siecroz:
OK... changed the Fuel Filter (in was Minging.. all rusty on the inside and full of crap)... Bled air out and the fuel through... wiped all the part from any Diesel that got past the tin and rags... Fired her up without the head rods as suggested..

chug.. vroom.... 2 mins ..... chug spluter .. and cut out again :(

Repeated the bleed proceedure a couple of times.. still nothing.

THEN... I noticed fuel coming out by one of the fuel injectors!! (couldn't determine as in poor light if it was from the "Leak Pipe" or from around the base of the injector.

Does anyone know if the injector is blocked, would that cause fuel to back up through the Leak Pipe and allow air into the System??

hobbit:
Have you cracked the injector pipe off the injector and checked the pulse of fuel coming out.

Normally with an injector if the nozzle is blocked the fuel will still flow past and round the leak off pipe which it does anyway

With all the muck in the fuel system, could the fuel be contanimated, normally its just rust from the tank, but two other options are has someone put something in the tank, or is water getting into the fuel

You may have to pop the injectors and get them serviced, if the break off pressure is out that will cause problems, also if the nozzles are blocked will cause probs too, especially if some contanimation has got though the dirty filter

Jas278:
Some vauxhalls suffer from air in the system if the fuel leak off pipe leaks ,rectify this, get it running and try it down the road, there may still be air in the system.

Worth a Try... ordered one in from Vauxhall to collect tomorrow.. only a couple of quid. I thought thats where it might be coming from and would explain why air is getting in after a couple of minutes.. blumin winter weather means I am using an inspection light outside the house on the road. Not the most comfortable place to be taking your engine to bits... but beats being in a mud hole I suppose :)

Heres hoping [-o<

Thanks again Jas
