Help - Cutting Out

(1/3) > >>

Siecroz:
MY FRONTY's Poorly   :(bigcry):

I was on my way into work this morning... dropped off the wee man at his Mum's house... when I came out and started the Fronty.,.., 3 Attempts before it chugged into life.

Then I was coming DOWNHILL towards some traffic lights on Red, and as I changed down to second the engine simply cut out! :(

Also when it is iddling, it seems to drop revs. It usually idles at about 750rpm.. which I am led to believe is normal.. but ever 10 seconds or so it drops to almost stall.

There's fuel in it. Oils ok, Water's ok, Oil isn't Milky that I can see.. doesn't seem to be any oil in the water either.

Oh... it's only been happening since that cold snap yesterday morning.

Could it be glow plugs need replacing?

Idea's on a POST .. not a card please

Thanks in advance

Sie

From the title of the thread, first I thought you wanted a responsible adult to help you with some scissors

Does your Funtera have the same problems once it's warmed up? i.e. when the glow plugs have stopped functioning.

I've always found with diesel engines that once they are runnign they are fine, if you don't leave your plugs to heat (on some engines) then you will have problems - but once they are going you should be OK.

I would wonder if you have an electrical problem possibly due to condensation..... but the answer to my first question might reveal a little more

It had been running a good ten minutes before cutting out... Its only a short run to work (bout 15 minutes through town centre. I am getting a bike when finances allow.)

If it had been running for 10 minutes then I definately would think it was your Glow Plugs, they would have stopped working ages ago (they are onlt really for starting the engine - not keeping it running).

Does your engine heat up, i.e. does the temperature guage increase.

(I'm wondering if for some reason your engine is not getting warmed up properly)

I would still think it is an electrical problem of some form, or possibly blocked fuel filters not allowing a smooth run of Diesel through, plenty whilst the engine is sucking, but when idleing (or between gear changes) not 'sucking' enough through.

Might be worth a try, you should replace the filters 'regularly' anyway and they won't be expensive (cheaper than if it is an electrical fault).

Don't ask me where they are though......

It might be the stop solinoid wire breaking down.....
