to grind or not to grind?

try grinding a groove into it then putting a nice sharp chisel into it - then get a BIG hammer to persuade it off.   Some heat would also probably be helpful.

as davidlandy said would work, but my way would be better... more heat, and a bigger hammer!

Got the very same job to do this weekend!

Lots of heat, grind a groove into each side and use a dam good puller

Failing that, go with David and cur a groove, big chisel, even bigger hammer

Oh, and whatever you do, use some goggles!  When they go, thay can send bits all over the place  :shock:
