to grind or not to grind?

hello ive took my front hubs off coz of a collapsed  bearing and the bit from the bearing(technical term) is still on the stub axle can i grind it off or is there another way to get it off thanks.  joe

Yes you could, but I'd try a sharp chisel first, less chance of damage at the right angle

Budgie:
If the wheel bearing has welded itself onto the stub axle then, as long as everything else is apart, don't bother cos you'll need a new stub axle anyway.
If you need it off the remove other parts then a chisel is a good starting point before working up to the grinder. :wink:

ok thanks for the replies everything has come off apart from the inner race of the bearing which is on the stub axle and that is the bit ive got to get off coz luckily i havnt scored or damaged the stub axle thanks.  joe
