Warranty madness.....
rokcrawlin:
If you think the main dealers are bad try this,
A mate took his vehicle into an independent dealer for a service, the dealer told him it would be ready later in the day.
He goes to work and his wife works in a nearby town works in the afternoon she goes to work and sees his motor driving through the town and wonders where "he" my mate is going, so she follows it and it turns onto a drive she then notices its not my mate, she asks the guy what he is doing with her hubbies car and the reply was it was this dealers courtesy vehicle and he was told to use it by the dealer ,so neeedless to say she rang hubby and told him, he then rang the dealer asking how the servicing was going was there anything he should know about, the reply was we have found a few things wrong and will need the car for a couple of days as the parts willl need to be ordered, ah my mate said guess they will be the spare keys for my car ......your courtesy vehicle which i want back on my drive in 20 minutes or i will report its theft

   Your mate is more forgiving than me, the police would have been the first people I'd have called!
Bush Tucker Man:
My local main LR dealer has been of mixed helpfulness during my dealings with them.
I bought my 110Tdi from their previous incarnation (Copley Motors at Halifax) when it was just 3years old.
It suffered from the ubiquitous water leaks, it went back 4 times & each time it was either seen whilst I waited, or I got one of their demos as a courtesy car.
I eventually solved it with a 2" bead of silicone & got an apology from the dealer-principal
Once they moved to Wakefield (& became 'StoneLake') it was different again.
The 110Tdi had gone & I had the 90CSW-V8, they even pulled (admittedly used) parts off a V8 in the workshop & let me have them when they were out of stock at the factory.
Hows that for service??
On buying the Discovery, I aquired a second alarm fob from a seller on E-Bay & decided I'd get 'my leg lifted' over coding it to the vehicle
I wanted a spare key as well, so went to 'Guy Salmon' (as they are now) & bought one
The workshop manager plugged in Test-Book & coded the alarm with the price of the key - about £4.00. No half-hours labour, or whatever it is
Sadly the parts guy who used to give me trade-discount has now retired  , but his place has been taken by the husband of one of our Nurses, so I'll be asking for my NHS discount next time I go
