Warranty madness.....

(1/3) > >>

Jimbo:
As the LR Warranty on the Disco is about to expire, I thought I'd get a couple of annoying problems sorted:

1 - N/S/R door central locking not working. They fitted a new door lock, I tried the lock/unlock when I picked up the car - it worked fine. Got home, unlocked all the doors - will the N/S/R door open, will it bo&&ocks, it will unlock but not open !!!

2 - No illumination on the climate control panel (HVAC) - needs a new bulb says the report, we'll order one in for you. The stealer just phoned me to say that they will *only* charge 30mins labour to fit the bulb.........labour charge says I, but its under warranty  :? , no says the stealer, bulbs are not covered by the warranty, you have to pay (£2) for the bulb, and the labour, about £49 plus the VAT

I've told them to stick fitting the bulb, I'll do that - I have the instruction sheet, its not rocket science by any means. As for the non-opening door, I'm calling in tomorrow afternoon to have the lock *adjusted*............

And as for the saga with the loan Freelander - the less said about that the better, needless to say........I don't think much of LR's customer service at the moment

I'm going down the pub.

Jim

Sounds like you are just on your way home after buying it.

Was the warranty written on the back of a beer mat or fag packet by any chance?

I can see that they don't want people taking the car back because the tyre has a puncture etc, things like that you have just got to expect to happen, but 'good customer service' should have changed that bulb for you.

My Father-in-law's Audi had a headlight go the other week, one you can reach in and change the other (this one) needs the pipe to the air fileter removing to gain access, not a hard job, mines the same and it takes a couple of minutes, the main stealer sold him a new bulb (which was a little expensive but not enough to complain) and as they were quiet they OFFERED to fit it for him. This doesn't quite sound the same to your experiance.....

Jimbo:
The really annoying bit of all this, is that (having owned the Disco for nearly 2 years now), every time it's been in for warranty work, its had to go back as the so-called "technicians" fail to correct the fault, or, as has happened on two occasions, failed to put the bits back together properly - the transfer box started to leak where it joins the main box, it took the muppets 3 attempts to fix the leak, and another visit to have the gear selector (its an auto) adjusted as it kept jumping out of drive. Each time the reason given for the leak was "poor assembly" - surely thats an admission of total incompetance ?

I've had it with main dealers, I'm not saying that they're all bad, just the one I use seems to be exceptionally bad.

To insult me even further, LR Assistance wrote to me today - would I like to pay them £290 for the pleasure of another years cover ???? Do they think I'm stupid. I'll stick with the AA for breakdowns, and get my mate to do the servicing - he certainly wouldn't charge me £50 to change a bulb !

Colin 009:
Jim, I'm with you mate, I had a fuel tank replaced under a factory recall on my Disco, and they had to undo the towbar to get it out . I asked (stupid , stupid, me) them to leave the towbar off, this they did and just cut through the electrics. So now I have to take it back to them to rewire the sockets. This was from H.R. Owen in park Royal. I hate main stealers.
